Wellness is a modern word for activities dating from ancient civilizations like Chinese, Indian, Roman or Greek. Wellness in not about the cure or treatments for an existing illness; wellness means preventing illnesses, being healthy in body and spirit and prolonging life by choices and actions toward an optimal state of health and wellbeing. The World Health Organization defines wellness as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
A SPA is a resort were services like massages, baths, saunas or cosmetic treatments are rendered with the help of mineral or thermal waters, different types of plants or state of the art equipments. The name derives from Aquae Spadanae – the roman baths which corresponds to the present city of Spa in Belgium.

Romania is home to more than one third of Europe's mineral and thermal springs. More than 70 natural spas provide relief for many medical disorders and illnesses including rheumatism, endocrine, kidney, liver, respiratory, heart, stomach and nervous diseases as well as nutrition, metabolism and gynecological disorders.

The two concepts of wellness and spa are combined, including different services, oriented towards general health, relaxation and stress relief. Which are the main pillars to balance the frentic everyday life.
A Wellness and Spa resort can offer different types of massages, saunas, invigorating or therapeutic baths, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, fitness center, all in a relaxing ambience with restful colors, comforting flavors and relaxing sounds. Because the SPA is associated with the idea of a healthy life, many wellness and SPA resorts will offer a nutrition or a detoxify program.
